Weigh in

Took Jack to the baby clinic to get his first weight check and he is currently weighing in at

6lb 3 oz!

I knew he was putting the weight on as he is begining to get heavy lol plus he is getting a wee double chin – bless.

As I am still out of commison driving wise for another 3 weeks I had to walk to the health center which took me and my mum an hour to get there that by car would take 1o mins! I was bloody knackered by the time I got to the clinic and it has just started to rain as we got in. When we got out the heavans had opened and it was pouring down! By the time we had walked back home I was soaked right through and my legs were red raw from the cold rain and jeans rubbing when I was walking.

Will not be doing that in a hurray again – I have really over done it walking there today my stomach and scare area are sore =( I do tend to forget that I only had major abdominal surgery just under3 weeks ago! Hopefully mum will drive my car there next week – but she doenst like driving my suped up little car as its diseal and fast lol but she will need to until I can get driving again. I dont need to go every week but I want to see him grow over the next wee while then I can go every fortnight then on to once a month I guess – not sure how it works to be honest.

We are still very much finding our feet with the wee fella, working out what all his little faces mean and watching him when he tries to smile (even though at the mometnt its apparently not proper smiling!) He is getting really bad wind/colic at night time and I had very little sleep because of it last night – but  we are going to try colic drops that we put in his formula to see if it will help, obviously its not going to work over night but we going to give it a go and see if it helps. We have bought anti-colic bottles which are helping to a degree but night times are the worst.

I have given up on expressing milk now as he is doing just fine on the formula. I feel really bad at not being able to breast feed him but becuase of his weight when he was born and him not showing and interest in the breast anyway I had no choice but to go formula. My boobs have been fine and arent sore but think its mainly because I have managed to express so they havent had a chance to get engorged and also think the milk is starting dry up =(

Got more visitors coming tomorrow and a few more next week… still getting loads of clothes for him that he really needs to grow into – we have 2 drawers of clothes that doenst fit him currently! But if the weight gain keeps going as it is he will be in them in no time lol

Anyhoo Im sooo tired so going to head to bed for a few hours sleep until the night shift feeding starts lol
