#BEwedding Choosing a Casual Wedding Venue

Throughout September, Blogging Empire Society is hosting a month long series of posts and a $300 Giveaway on the topic of weddings! Make sure you check out all the links in the linky below (linked with the $300 Giveaway) to read articles on everything you need to know about getting things ready for your wedding (and even a couple things after your wedding)!

When it comes to choosing a wedding venue many people chose to go down the more traditional route of a formal church wedding, but more and more people are looking for a more casual venue.

This could be due to budget restraints, potentially a second or third marriage or even just a couple wanting to elope.

In the UK where I am based, we are kind of limited as to where we can get married – a church wedding or an approved wedding venue are really the only options available.

Here are my top casual venues that you might want to consider if formal isn’t up your street – or should that be aisle? 🙂

1. Registry Office or Justice of the peace:

I don’t think you can get much casual than this!

Being from the UK we have the equivalent of a court house marriage in a Registry Office, undertaken by a Registrar. Some of the offices here are in stunning buildings but give you that more casual affair at the same time.

You can pretty much just turn up in a suit and a fancy dress with two witnesses and get you marriage solemnised in about 30 mins.  Or you can dress up to the nines and have up to 50 people (dependent on the Office in question) A ot of people chose this kind of venue due to ease and quickness, though some find this to be just a little too casual.

The good thing about the Registrar is that you can also get married in venue of your choice that has been licensed to allow marriage.

2. Beach Wedding:

I have included beach weddings under casual venues as more people are combining a beach theme wedding with their honeymoon and saving money in the process. A beach wedding whilst it may be expensive I think it is the ultimate luxury casual venue.

I see the men in white linen suits and short shirts and the women in loose floaty dresses, bare foot or with boho sandals.

Not only does this provide you with a casual affair you get the guaranteed weather and honeymoon to boot afterwards 🙂

Popular destinations include the Bahamas, St Lucia and the Caribbean.

3. Backyard Wedding

Whilst this isn’t an option here in the UK as we are tied with legalities (you can get married in a field if you want but you would have to then get the married at church or Registrar to legalize it)

But a backyard wedding allows for the perfect casual venue ever. Especially if you are on a tight budget! You aren’t tied to the decor of a particular venue or limited to numbers.

These are just my top 3 casual venues, as like I say here in the UK we are limited.

I think no matter where you get married you can have it as casual as you want to as it is all about your day and what you want, but

What is your idea of the perfect Casual Wedding Venue?

These are all great locations. When we got married we went to the Justice of the Peace. We have talked about renewing our vows next year on our 25th anniversary. We both want to do it on the beach in Maui. That would be perfect for us.
