Spending Spree for the babee….

Well we have had an productive weekend – and expensive to boot!

Decided to got have a look at cotbeds and prams etc yestarday – we had an idea what we liked and how we want the room to look, so off to Mothercare we went. The nearest one for us was Livinstone about 45mins drive and even at that it wasnt a very big store. I did however have the very cotbed we liked on display so we at least got to see it and have a play about with it and shake it – yeah the store woman was looking at us funny at this point at us shaking this cot vigioursly, but hey want to make sure that its sturdy and can withstand a screaming child shaking the bars =) Next we looked at mattresses – I had no idea there were sooo many different kinds of mattress for a baby!! Honestly its madness………

We settled on the cotbed and mattress, paid and went on our way. Next stop PRAMS.

I was actually dreading this part – as ok the cot was reasonably priced but prams that a whole new can of worms.  We had a good recommendation of one from friends and we pretty much went into the shop asked to see it and try it out. They had a not to bad deal buy the pram set and footmuff and get £50 off the car seat, which wasnt to bad -but we decided to leave it as we wanted my mum to see it if she could work with it etc as she will on and off buses with it.

So on our way home from Edinburgh we stopped into mums and took her to a store in town that had this particular pram we wanted.  We had more space to try taking it apart and using the different parts of the pram for the different stages we would need it.

We were sold by it and in the end saved another £50 by buying it from this store – she is going to place the order and keep it at the store for us until nearer the time which is great as we have no place to store it just now until we sort  all that out. The cotbed arrives on thursday but that is flatpacked and can just stay in the nursery until we get it sorted and everything moved outta there.

Today  – well today was an Ikea job. God I love and hate that place at the same time 🙂

We spent another small forturne today on 2 sets of drawers – one for the nursery and a new set for us as ours are falling apart, and we also got a new mattress for our bed and a rocking chair for the nurserary for me to sit and feed the little one on 🙂

All in all we spent about 1k and that may seem a lot but the pram was the biggest expense, but it will last 4 years so its worth it really. And that is all the big things bought -my mum and dad are giving us the money for the cot and matress so thats not too bad really.

eeek!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its begining to get more and more real!
